SPACE2TALK service

SPACE2TALK is a telephone service set up by Adoption Central England offering emotional support to adoptive parents. The service is open to all ACE approved adopters and adopters from other local authority/RAA’s who have had an ACE region child placed with them.

SPACE2TALK will provide an opportunity for adoptive parents to have a dedicated time to talk to an experienced adopter (known as a volunteer) who has completed training for the role, in order to reflect on their own emotional well-being, whilst parenting an adopted child.

• Space where the adopter can feel heard, accepted and understood.
• Space without judgement to explore the experiences and challenges they may be facing.

SPACE2TALK will provide a regular planned phone call to the adopter applying a SPACE (self-care, playful, acceptance, curiosity and empathy) friendly approach. By modelling this approach with adopters it is hoped that they will experience self-compassion and build a PACE-full relationship with their child.
